NewRiver REIT and Hammerson were among the top real estate risers on the stock exchange today, as London-listed stocks enjoyed a boost on optimism over the vaccine rollout.
Shares in NewRiver rose by 8.4% to 83p, while Hammerson was up 6.8% to 22.6p. Landsec’s shares were also up, by 4.6% to 634.6p.
Premier Inn owner Whitbread was the top riser in the FTSE 100 today. Its stocks rose 7.1% to finish the session at 3,435p.
In the FTSE 250, notable share price increases included Cineworld (up 10.6% to 82.7p) and Mitchell & Butlers (up 7.9% to 354.5p). Earlier today the latter said it will raise £350m from three of its largest shareholders to strengthen its balance sheet.
The FTSE 100 enjoyed a 2.4% uplift to end the day at 6,756 points, while the FTSE 250 rose 1.8% to 21,518.
