Battersea Power Station ramps up team as Apple prepares move

The former operations director for Landsec’s central London portfolio, James Carragher, has joined Battersea Power Station as estates director.

Carragher is one of four new hires to the company behind the redevelopment of London’s iconic Battersea Power Station. He joins as the firm prepares to see the first new residents move into the Grade II* listed Power Station and Electric Boulevard, and hands over some 500,000 sq ft of space to Apple as it begins fit-out of its new UK campus.

Joining Carragher to help manage the operational performance of the Battersea Power Station estate are David Collins, who joins as head of retail and commercial services from Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield where he spent 10 years, most recently as senior operations manager; Yiannis Moraitopolous, who joins as head of energy services; Nipa Bhanu, who becomes head of residential operations; and Nadeem Ghous Chaudary, who is residential property manager.

Simon Murphy, chief executive of  Battersea Power Station Development Company, said: “We are reaching a pivotal moment in the transformation of the Battersea Power Station development, as the long-awaited vision for this iconic building and the surrounding area becomes a reality.

“In line with the progress being made across the site, we are strengthening our estate management team with this first wave of new hires to be led by James, who will be instrumental in overseeing and managing the operational processes involved in the next stages of the project.”

Carragher added: “2021 is set to be a hugely transformative year for Battersea Power Station, and I am pleased to be joining the team at such an exciting stage in its journey. The next 12 months include several notable milestone moments for the project, and I look forward to working with the team to deliver a robust operational strategy to support these.”
