Kier wins consent for latest Arena Central office

Birmingham City Council has unanimously approved Kier Property’s plans for a 200,000 sq ft office at Arena Central.

The 10-storey building at 5 Centenary Square (formerly 1 Arena Central) will be the third office at the Birmingham city centre regeneration.

It follows the 210,000 sq ft building at 1 Centenary Square, which sold to HSBC in 2015, and L&G’s 3 Arena Central which is leased by HMRC. Kier aims to start construction in the third quarter of this year.

Greg Willis at Make Architects said: “With the changes on Broad Street to accommodate the new tram network and the recent overhaul of Centenary Square, this development will finally complete the frontage onto the square, with a distinctive façade that pays homage to its heritage neighbours.”
