Hammerson was the top real estate riser on the stock exchange today, leading the FTSE 250 with a 13.3% leap in share price.
Stocks in the landlord, which finished the day at 41.7p, soared after it submitted plans to convert a former Debenhams store in Leicester into a build-to-rent scheme.
Other notable rises in the index included Capital & Counties, up by 4.7% at 181.6p, and Shaftesbury, up by 4.4% at 669p.
British Land outperformed its FTSE 100 peers, with stocks up by 4.6% at 532p. Landsec also made gains, rising by 4% at 705.8p.
The FTSE 100 ended the session up 0.8% at 6,803 points, while the FTSE 250 was up 1.1% at 21,764 points.
