The UK’s largest housebuilders clocked some of the sharpest gains on the markets today, defying a general drop in the FTSE 350.
Persimmon rose 2.58%, Barratt was up 1.96% and Berkeley Group gained 1.84%, taking three of the top 10 riser spots on the FTSE 100.
Elsewhere, Redrow climbed 2.1%, with further rises from Taylor Wimpey, Bellway and Crest Nicholson.
The upticks came amid continued support for the sector as the government plans its roadmap out of lockdown.
In a written statement today, housing secretary Robert Jenrick confirmed further measures to boost the industry with extended construction site hours until 30 September and called on councils to be flexible around planning enforcement actions.
The FTSE 100 fell 0.57% to 6,675 and the FTSE 250 dipped 0.58% to 21,278.
