Henry Boot has received planning permission for what it claims is one of the West Midlands’ largest development projects.
The company is set to get under way with the £114m GDV Phoenix 10 scheme, an industrial and logistics development it is delivering on behalf of Walsall Council, Homes England and the West Midlands Combined Authority.
The 44-acre scheme, on the site of the former James Bridge Copper Works, will provide up to 620,000 sq ft of employment space. Remediation work is expected to start in the third quarter of this year, with construction beginning in 2023.
Ed Hutchinson, managing director of Henry Boot Develoments, described the project as “an exciting opportunity” for the company, noting that the site is “the largest undeveloped brownfield site in the Black Country”.
