Developers have got the nod to demolish Wells House, a 1980s block in Bromley, BR1, and build an updated office building in its place.
The seven-storey building, designed by Urban Infill architects, will contain 123,000 sq ft of modern office space, with a tree-lined terrace and glass frontage.
Applicant Christopher Craddock will go ahead with the project after all 17 councillors voted in favour of the scheme.
The council received objections from eight neighbours who complained that it would overshadow their properties.
But planning documents from Avison Young, which represented the applicant, argued that the block had the potential to “significantly contribute to the borough’s demand for office floorspace”.
“The current configuration of the building is dated and does not meet the requirements of modern office occupiers and therefore does not contribute effectively to the district’s economic needs,” they added.
