GLA signs off 1,200-home Met Police scheme

The Greater London Authority has approved Redrow’s plans for 1,200 flats at Colindale Gardens, on the former site of the police training centre in Hendon, north London.

This rubber-stamping follows Barnet Council’s approval last July. The scheme will see buildings of up to 26 storeys, with 35% affordable housing on a 10-acre plot. It is the third and final phase of the 4,000-home regeneration.

The 47-acre site was used by the Metropolitan Police for 80 years as an operational centre. In 2013, Redrow was selected by the council as the preferred bidder to develop the site. It has already sold 1,500 homes.

Paul Muldowney, managing director at Redrow Greater London, said: “The appeal of Colindale Gardens shows no sign of slowing, with the range of homes on offer appealing to buyers at every stage of the property ladder, who are drawn to the fantastic amenities and green open space as well as proximity to Colindale underground station.”
