Elon Musk could be keen on a UK ‘gigafactory’ once more as a flying visit to Luton fuels rumours of site visits.
The eccentric billionaire flew into the airport on his private jet last Friday, before departing again on Sunday night.
The visit has added weight to reports that the newly created Office for Investment has been asking regional agencies to submit potential locations that could cope with 250 hectares of development.
Apparently they had been asked to submit proposals this month for a potential factory site and “only had 48 hours to put it together”, but that the company behind the plans had not been revealed.
