Investor sought for £3.2bn Arden Cross

Arden Cross is seeking an investment partner to bring forward a £3.2bn scheme at the proposed High Speed 2 Interchange in Solihull.

The company combines Birmingham City Council, Packington Estates, Sherborne Castle Estates and Fisher German directors.

It has collaborated with the West Midlands Combined Authority, the Urban Growth Company and Solihull Metropolitan Council to develop a masterplan for 6m sq ft and 3,000 homes.

Arden Cross has appointed JLL to secure a developer or investment partner to bring forward the development at the 346-acre site.

The company said the scheme has the potential to add £1bn to the Midlands economy every year and create 27,000 new jobs.

It is located close to Birmingham Airport, the NEC, Birmingham Business Park and Jaguar Land Rover.

Alistair Meadows, head of investor-developer clients at JLL, said: “Arden Cross will appeal to international and domestic developers and investors encouraged by the transformational changes in the Midlands’ regional economy and the significant opportunity presented by this extensive, cohesive and connected mixed-use scheme.

“It represents a key part of the Midlands Engine initiative to ambitiously grow our regional and national economy.”

Ian Courts, leader of Solihull Council, added: “This opportunity is a unique proposition within the UK, creating a gateway location for Solihull, the West Midlands and the nation and a place where international organisations and businesses can interact and learn together. It will boost next-generation R&D opportunities while complementing the strengths of the region’s existing sectors and unbeatable location, opportunity and lifestyle.”
