Resi platform hires adviser for €1.2bn expansion plan

Residential investment platform IMMO Capital has recruited Andrew Baum as strategic adviser and investor.

Baum is a professor at the University of Oxford, focusing on property funds, development and technology, and led the real estate study at the Saïd Business School.

He is also chair of investment advisory firm Property Funds Research, chair of fund manager Newcore Capital Management and has held senior roles at CBRE Global Investors, Invesco and Grosvenor.

Baum will advise the IMMO Capital’s expansion of single-family residential investment management in Europe, as it seeks to deploy €1.2bn on behalf of a number of global investors.

IMMO Capital uses machine learning to source, underwrite and structure single-family residential assets into large portfolios for investors to deliver stabilised rental income and capital appreciation.

Last month it launched the first European single-family residential investment fund for retail investors, using blockchain technology.

Hans-Christian Zappel, chief executive and co-founder of IMMO Capital, said: “Andrew has unparalleled knowledge of the factors driving both the future of real estate markets and congruent proptech solutions.

“His advice will be invaluable as we seek to unlock a brand-new institutional investment class, the €34tn European SFR market.”

Baum said: “With excitement growing around the residential sector, including the burgeoning SFR market, there is huge potential to springboard from IMMO Capital’s unique and impressive technology platform to scale up the business very quickly.”
