Homes England seeks strategic board

Homes England has launched a hunt for housing experts to join its strategic board amid an upheaval in leadership.

The agency aims to appoint up to three non-executive directors to its board, following the appointment of Peter Denton as chief executive last month and Peter Freeman as chair at the end of last year.

Homes England will look for experts in housebuilding and development, affordable housing, local government and construction. Applications have opened and will close on 12 August.

Peter Freeman, chair of Homes England, said: “As the country moves beyond its current challenges, Homes England’s role has never been so important.

“We are working closely with the government to be an even stronger institution that can galvanise a housing-led recovery, connecting other ambitious organisations and using our resources to work strategically across the country to create jobs, homes, and long-term partnerships in places.

“Homes England’s non-executive directors play a vital role in this, which is why we are looking for passionate, dynamic leaders to join us.”

The agency’s board currently comprises eight members alongside Freeman. It includes Simon Dudley, chair of the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation; Duncan Sutherland, a director at Sigma Capital, who supported the first PRS REIT in the UK; and architect Sadie Morgan.
