Good weather and the ‘summer of sport’ have helped retailers record the fastest quarterly growth on record.
Sales rose by 13.1% in June compared with the same month in 2019, according to the retail sales monitor compiled by the British Retail Consortium and KPMG.
This was up from 10% in May. Growth was driven by non-food items, such as clothing and footwear. In the three months to June non-food sales increased by 12.4%, while food sales eased back to 7.9%.
