Whitehall infighting has delayed the publication of the government’s strategy to decarbonise housing.
The heat and buildings strategy was due to be published next week, setting out a route map to decarbonise heating systems in homes and office. Together this accounts for a third of the UK’s emissions.
That strategy has now been pushed back until September at the earliest, owing to a wrangle over the cost of the plans.
Etopia chief executive, Joseph Daniels, a special adviser to the government on decarbonising housing and construction, said: “There is no time for dithering and delay on plans to decarbonise housing.”
