Rumours are circulating that the chancellor will delay his budget until next year.
The speculation has been fuelled after Rishi Sunak instructed the Office for Budget Responsibility to prepare economic and fiscal forecasts for October 27, but did not specifically state that it was for the autumn budget.
The OBR is legally required to publish two forecasts a year, but they can simply be released to parliament.
Sunak is believed to be keen on delaying the budget until March, when the underlying state of the economy should be clearer.
