Ballymore and Sainsbury’s team up for £1.7bn Ladbroke vision

Ballymore has formed an alliance with Sainsbury’s to develop an 18-acre site in Ladbroke Grove, W10.

The strategic partnership will see the creation of a £1.7bn mixed-use canal-side town centre with 2,800 homes. As part of the partnership,  60/40 in Ballymore’s favour, Sainsbury’s will get a new 130,000 sq ft store.

Proposals for the site, which forms a a huge chunk of Kensington & Chelsea’s Kensal Canalside Opportunity Area, will include civic spaces, restoration of an historic canal basin, and a generous mix of retail, leisure, cultural, community, small business workspace and educational uses.

Ballymore boss Sean Mulryan said: “Partnerships like this one show the type of innovative approach needed to tackle London’s housing shortage. We are pleased to be a step closer to submitting an application and realising our ambitions of a mixed-use scheme that will transform the area.”

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s property director, said the agreement was “a momentous opportunity to deliver an exciting new vision for Ladbroke Grove”.
