More than 2,500 competitors from across the real estate industry returned to Dorney Lake in Berkshire on 20 August to take part in the JLL Property Triathlon.
The event, one of the largest gatherings of UK real estate professionals, was back after a year’s hiatus caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Individuals took part in a 2.2km swim down the length of Dorney Lake, a duathlon or various sprint triathlon races, competing, having fun and raising much-needed funds for Crisis.
Participants raised £193,000 for the charity, vital cash that will help Crisis in its work to end homelessness.
Since its inaugural event in 2007, the JLL Property Triathlon has brought people across the industry together and raised more than £2m for charity.
Sue Asprey-Price, head of workplace dynamics and occupier clients at JLL, who took part in the women’s relay race, said: “The past year has highlighted why wellbeing and staying active remains so important. We are so happy to have been able to bring the property community together to have fun, challenge each other and support our charity partners.
“Thank you to all of those involved for their generosity and great sportsmanship – together we’re working hard to help end homelessness in the UK.”
Crisis chief executive Jon Sparkes, added: “While the temporary measures brought in at the beginning of the pandemic provided some short-term relief, right now, more than 200,000 people are still experiencing the worst forms of homelessness such as sleeping on our streets, sofa surfing or living in unsuitable temporary accommodation like B&Bs. Many more people are also at risk of being pushed into homelessness by financial pressures, again caused by the pandemic.
“These generous donations will go towards our year-round work helping people across the UK by providing them with a range of services including support with housing, employment, training and healthcare.”
