Residential rents outside London are rising at their fastest rate for 13 years, with some parts of the country seeing a 10% increase.
Figures from Zoopla show that average rents outside the capital rose by 5% over the 12 months to the end of July, adding more than £450 to the average annual rent bill. It is the biggest increase since the index began in 2008.
However, rents in Wigan and Mansfield have risen by more than 10% in a year, while in Hastings and Norwich rents are up by more than 9%.
