Hammerson UK and Ireland managing director Mark Bourgeois is leaving the listed landlord, after more than four years in the leadership team.
Bourgeois joined Hammerson in 2017 and was responsible for its performance across 30 venues, around £600m of gross rental income, circa £425m of net rental income and more than £10bn of assets under management.
As a group executive committee member, Bourgeois had significant input to the strategy for the challenged business, including setting out a vision for stabilising the balance sheet, repurposing retail space and diversifying into residential, office, logistics and alternatives.
Bourgeois said he will be moving on from the landlord “in the coming weeks”, following a handover period. He will spend time with his family before planning for the future.
“It has been an absolute privilege to work for such a great organisation: brilliant people, fantastic venues and a very wide network of smart stakeholders,” he said.
“I’ve loved the challenge of steering the UK and Ireland business through a period of enormous change, working with the leadership team to stabilise things during Covid, and planning for the continued transformation of Hammerson. I’m proud to have recruited and worked with some impressively talented colleagues who I know will take things on from here.”
A spokeswoman for Hammerson confirmed Bourgeois is leaving “as part of the focus on the future organisation” following a handover period, adding that “Mark has shaped a talented team which will now help take Hammerson into the next phase of its business transformation”.
Harry Badham, chief development and asset repositioning officer, will lead the leasing team while Grégoire Peureux, chief operating officer, will focus on asset management and strategy.
