Expect an interest rate rise before Christmas, the City has warned.
Economists at Bank of America predict a first modest rise in the base rate of 0.15 percentage points in December, taking the benchmark rate to 0.25%.
They forecast a second rise of 0.25 points to 0.5% next February. Previously, they had not expected any tightening of policy until February next year.
