Ireland to get new tallest tower

Ireland will get a new tallest building after reworked designs for a 30-storey tower in Dublin were approved.

The plans for the 198-apartment Parkgate Street tower were submitted by Ruirside Developments, owned by Joe O’Reilly’s Chartered Land Group.

The majority of the development was approved by An Bord Pleanala last year, including its height, but planners had asked for a more ambitious design for the tower, which was approved yesterday.

The tower, at 98.4m high, will be significantly taller than the current leader, the 79m Capital Dock on Sir Rogerson’s Quay.
