URW’s Paris pyramid gets green light

A controversial glass pyramid in Paris will now be built after finally securing financing.

La Tour Triangle, a €700m, 180-metre tower with a trapezoid base, will be built within the exhibition park of Porte de Versailles on the southern side of inner Paris.

The owner, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, said construction will start this year and finish in 2026.

The 48-floor tower, which has been likened to the Shard as well as a piece of Toblerone, will include a 120-bedroom hotel and apartments, as well as offices and cultural spaces.

Although the Triangle was first proposed in 2008, plans were rejected in 2014 and then approved in 2015. The mayor of the 15th Arrondisment remains opposed to the building.
