The owner of Brighton Pier is on the hunt for further deals, after buying a theme park in North Yorkshire.
Anne Ackord, chief executive of the Brighton Pier Group, which paid £5m for Lightwater Valley in June, said that it “continues to assess attractive acquisition opportunities in family leisure and the broader leisure sector”.
Serial investor Luke Johnson bought Brighton Palace Pier in 2016 in an £18m deal and reversed it into Eclectic Bar Group, an AIM-listed late-night bar operator. He is its chair and now holds a 27% stake.
As well as nine remaining bars, the company runs eight indoor crazy golf centres.
Despite a fall in revenue from £22.6m to £13.5m for the year to the end of June, the firm swung from a pretax loss of £10.2m to a profit of £4.2m.
