Royal Dutch Shell’s decision to move its chief executive and tax residence from the Netherlands to the UK has caused dismay in the Hague, but is being led by the oil giant’s need to keep shareholders happy as it makes the transition to green energy, say analysts.
Under the plans Shell’s chief executive and chief financial officer would be among only 11 people to move to London in the short-term, according to Morgan Stanley. However, all board and executive committee meetings would be held in the UK.
Shell is based at the Shell Centre on London’s South Bank.
