Placefirst plans for Wolverhampton redevelopment approved

A £65m, 366-home mixed-use scheme from build-to-rent developer Placefirst has been given the go-ahead by Wolverhampton Council.

The regeneration scheme is located in Wolverhampton’s Canalside Quarter, a former industrial area, close to the city’s new £150m transport interchange, on land close to Lower Horseley Fields. As well as new homes, it will include commercial space.

With full planning permission now granted, work on site is expected to start next summer.

The development will provide a mix of townhouses, new-build apartments and commercial space across five acres of brownfield land. It will also see restoration of heritage canalside properties as well as environmental improvements.

The scheme sits alongside broader regeneration being overseen by the council, Canal and River Trust and West Midlands Combined Authority.
