The boss of Loungers has hinted that the café-bar chain could raise its target of 400 Lounge-branded venues across the UK.
Chief executive Nick Collins said the figure was “very, very conservative”.
In the half-year to 3 October, the group has resumed its expansion programme, opening 12 new sites — 11 Lounges and one Cosy Club – and a further four sites have opened since the end of the half-year.
It now has 184 sites, comprising 153 Lounge café-bars and 31 slightly more upmarket Cosy Clubs.
It is opening at the rate of 25 a year, with a target of 400 Lounges and 100 Cosy Clubs, but Collins said the company had the infrastructure – and cash resources – in place to accelerate that opening rate “as circumstances permit”.
