Modular housing developer TopHat has secured planning consent for 183 homes at Kitchener Barracks in Chatham, Kent.
The Goldman-Sachs backed developer will build 96 flats in the first phase of the scheme. The flats will be the first from TopHat, with work expected to start in the new year.
In total, TopHat will deliver 300 modular homes at the 4.8-acre Kitchener Barracks site. Some 100 houses have already been delivered.
TopHat was founded in 2016 and opened doors to its factory in South Derbyshire in 2018. In 2019, the company secured a £75m investment from Goldman Sachs to expand operations.
Andrew Shepherd, managing director at TopHat, said: “This latest milestone at Kitchener Barracks will see us begin the delivery of our first apartments. These new apartments demonstrate the solid growth of our business as we continue to diversify our product range to help our clients.”
