Edinburgh beats Cambridge as best city for resi investors

Edinburgh is the best city in the UK to invest in residential property, according to a Colliers report.

The Scottish capital scored highly on a range of 20 metrics, including quality of life, education, house price rises, culture, employment, economic growth rates and a growing population.

Colliers said: “Its diverse economy, large population and highly skilled workforce make the city an attractive destination for employers while employees are drawn to the city thanks to its employment opportunities, cultural heritage and liveability.” However, it added that there were some “affordability issues”.

Edinburgh had previously been second on the Colliers list but has moved ahead of Cambridge. London rose one place to third, Oxford was up nine places to fourth and Belfast, which moved up two slots, completed the top five.
