Former Redrow boss John Tutte is to join rival housebuilder Bellway as non-executive chair.
Tutte, who has previously served as Redrow’s group chief executive, executive chair and non-executive chair, will join Bellway’s board as non-executive chairman designate on 1 March.
He will succeed Paul Hampden Smith, who will retire on 1 April after almost nine-years’ service as a non-executive director.
Tutte retired from the board of Redrow last year.
Denise Jagger, Bellway’s senior independent director, said: “Following a very thorough search and selection process, the board is delighted to appoint someone of John’s calibre and sector experience as Bellway’s next chairman.
Tutte said he was delighted to join a firm that had “such a focus on quality, a responsible approach to business and strong foundations to maintain its impressive track record of sustainable volume growth”.
Tutte will also serve as chair of the remuneration committee.
