Bexhill-on-Sea has become the latest residential property hotspot, as the East Sussex town shrugs off its elderly associations.
The number of properties for sale has jumped by 88% in a year, while the average asking price has climbed 13% higher to £342,265, according to Rightmove.
Property owners are hoping to cash in on a boom in demand from flexible-working Londoners who want more space and to live by the sea and are now prepared to commute two hours if it is only for two or three days each week.
The town once boasted the country’s highest number of centenarians.
High Peak in Derbyshire was second on the list, with an 82% increase in new sellers, while Chelmsford in Essex was third with a 58% rise.
