Campaigners are calling for Silvertown Tunnel plans to be scrapped amid claims it would be “devastating” for a local borough that is “already the most polluted in the UK”.
Construction of the tunnel, which would connect Silvertown in east London to Greenwich on the other side of the river, is due to start within months.
Calls to cancel the project came after a meeting with Seb Dance, London’s deputy mayor for transport this week.
