KFC to serve up 300 restaurants in next five years

KFC has outlined plans to open 300 new restaurants across the UK and Ireland in the next five years.

The fast-food chain, which launched its 1,000th store during Q1 this year, said it was “committed to reviving the UK high street”. It has opened 160 locations in the past five years.

A further 50 locations are expected to open this year. The brand now employs more than 27,000 people in the UK and Ireland, with scope for 1,500 new jobs this year.

Daniel Gardner, acquisition and estates director at KFC UK and Ireland, said his team had “always been bold” in its “ambition to grow our restaurant estate” across towns and cities and had been “working flat out to reframe the brand to attract new audiences”.

He added: “The past few years have been exceptionally difficult for the hospitality sector and high streets up and down the country, so we are extremely proud to be able to say we’re open and serving fans in 1,000 restaurants at this critical moment in KFC’s growth trajectory.”
