Macquarie AM hires new head of real estate

Macquarie Asset Management has appointed Alex James as managing director and head of real estate for its client solutions group across EMEA.

James, who joins from Round Hill Capital where he was head of capital markets, will lead a team of specialists focused on Macquarie’s global real estate product suite – ranging from opportunistic strategies that involve partnering with specialist operators to core and core-plus real estate. 

Adam Lygoe, head of Macquarie’s EMEA client solutions group, said: “Alex will play a central role in shaping and developing Macquarie Asset Management’s real estate client engagement strategy in partnership with our investment teams from around the world. He is a seasoned real estate professional, having led equity capital raising efforts for a range of real estate strategies over many years.”

Prior to Round Hill Capital, James work at Hines and began his real estate career at Lehman Brothers.
