Henry Boot is preparing to start work on a £66m speculative office scheme in Manchester.
The Island scheme will see the redevelopment of a 10-storey city centre building into a Cartwright Pickard-designed 100,000 sq ft, net zero carbon smart-enabled office.
The group’s development business, HBD, is working on the project alongside joint venture partner the Greater Manchester Pension Fund.
Construction is set to start this month with practical completion due in summer 2024.
HBD’s Ed Hutchinson said: “Our decision to speculatively develop Island is a real statement of intent, and demonstrates our confidence not only in Manchester but in the future of workspace more broadly. While working patterns have evolved, demand for high-quality, well-located office space remains robust.”
