Confusion over Glasgow tower leaves neighbours homeless

More than 100 Glasgow residents have had to leave their properties amid fears that a nearby tower could collapse.

People in Park Circus in the West End of Glasgow were given 15 minutes to leave their homes in January when Storm Malik set off motion sensors in Trinity Tower, a 19th-century structure known to be in need of repair.

While engineers have said the tower is safe, the council says it is not and is refusing to let people move back into their homes.

Residents have been paying thousands of pounds for temporary accommodation on top of existing mortgages, with most insurance policies refusing to cover the costs.

Glasgow council has yet to begin any works on the tower.
