Workspace creates ESG committee in organisational rejig

Workspace Group has formed a board-level ESG committee and scrapped its risk committee, as non-executive director Damon Russell steps down from the board.

The ESG committee will be chaired by non-executive director Duncan Owen. It will oversee the company’s sustainability strategy and comprise all members of the board, both executive and non-executive.

Russell will leave at the close of the company’s annual general meeting in July this year, after serving nine years on the board.

His responsibilities have included chairing the risk committee, which was formed in 2020 as the company began to implement an updated risk management framework. Workspace said it has since decided to integrate its activities with those of the audit committee, with the board retaining overall responsibility for risk management.

Membership of the company’s audit committee will reduce from six members to three. It will be chaired by Rosie Shapland and will also comprise Lesley-Ann Nash and Manju Malhotra. Nash and Shapland were previously on the three-strong risk committee along with Russell.

There are no changes to the composition of the company’s remuneration committee or nominations committee.
