Investment manager Redevco has appointed Simon Russian as development director, in a newly created role.
Russian has more than 35 years of experience in real estate. He was previously development director at Areli, where he worked for more than a year. Before that, he was a partner at Montagu Evans for two years, and was head of retail at LGIM Real Assets.
In his new role at Redevco, Russian will focus on transforming the Templars Square shopping centre in Oxford, which Redevco bought for £38.8m in December. The site has pre-existing planning consent that includes 226 homes.
Russian will join the business next week (16 May), reporting to portfolio director Chris Fleetwood.
Fleetwood said Russian will “further assist Redevco with its urban transformation strategy to help cities become more sustainable and liveable places”.
Russian said: “This role will allow me to fully use the experience, knowledge and network I have built over the years.
“I’m confident that I can contribute to helping the company repurpose retail to mixed-use, and I look forward to closely working with the internal team as well as stakeholders across the different phases of these often long-term redevelopment projects.”
