Dorchester hotel set to auction more than 2,000 items

In February this year, five-star Park Lane hotel the Dorchester began a multi-million-pound refurbishment, and as a result the hotel is now selling off all of the existing furniture, fixtures and fittings from the guest bedrooms, suites and the Promenade and bar areas.

Items set to go under the hammer during a two-day auction on 21 and 22 June include luxury Vispring beds, Bang & Oulfsen televisions, artworks, desks, sofas and Georgian-style furniture  pieces.

The 90-year-old hotel, a favourite of royalty, A-list celebrities and the well-healed, will host the sale, which is being managed by hospitality specialist Pro Auction. More than 2,000 pieces will feature in the auction, each with its own story to tell and impeccably maintained to the five-star standard.

The new look will be unveiled in September and will integrate the latest innovations while honouring the building’s architectural heritage. Pierre-Yves Rochon will redesign the hotel entrance, the Promenade and the new guest rooms and suites, while Martin Brudnizki Design Studio will redesign the bar.

Auction previewing is by arrangement with the auctioneer and the physical sale commences daily at 10.30am and will also be streamed online.

Catalogues and full details are available to download here or from the bidding site.
