Electrical distributor Rexel UK has signed for 184,000 sq ft at Tritax Symmetry’s scheme at Aston Clinton in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.
Rexel has agreed a 15-year prelet at the second phase of the development. The property will be its largest UK distribution centre and will be used to strengthen its network across London, the South East and the South West in particular.
The deal comes after cosmetics company Pangaea Laboratories prelet a 92,850 sq ft facility at the park last September, on a 15-year lease.
The third and final building of the speculative second phase extends to 115,000 sq ft, with this phase of construction due to complete Q3 2022.
Built to net zero carbon in construction in line with the UK Green Building Council’s framework, each building will provide a minimum of 25% photovoltaic coverage of the usable roof area.
Christian Matthews, director at Tritax Symmetry, said: “To have let two of our three speculatively developed buildings on phase two prior to practical completion, shows the strength of the occupational market in this area of the UK.”
Edgar Aponte, chief executive at Rexel UK, said: “This distribution centre will serve our branches and customers even better, by ensuring speed and agility of our operations and provide greater product availability.
“We all know wholesale is a fast-paced world. The need for speed, flexibility and agility in the market is higher than ever before, so while we have designed a facility to meet the changing market needs, we will never forget the local touch.”
The site has planning consent for both logistics and film studio use.
Phase one for the site saw the prelet of the first unit (83,831 sq ft) to Global Infusion Group in 2019 and two further facilities, each measuring 56,034 sq ft and 112,148 sq ft, to MBS Equipment UK in 2020.
The project team includes Readie Construction, AJA Architects, Framptons Town Planning and Savills Project Managers.
Savills and Braiser Freeth are joint letting agents for the scheme.
