Plans approved for Kier’s first Trade City scheme in Manchester

Kier Property has been given the green light to build its first Trade City scheme on a 4.8-acre site in Manchester.

The developer is set to create 93,000 sq ft of industrial space across nine warehouses, ranging from 3,800 sq ft to 23,600 sq ft. The site forms part of the Cheetham Hill industrial area, close to the Cheetham retail park and Manchester Fort shopping park.

Kier, in partnership with Investec, bought the site in an off-market transaction in February. Work on the site is expected to start in September.

Kier managing director Leigh Thomas said: “Our scheme will offer local businesses the opportunity to grow and expand, creating new job opportunities in the area and deliver an important step forward from an environmental sustainability perspective.”

Savills acted as Kier’s planning consultant; Colliers and CBRE are joint letting agents on the scheme.
