London’s newest theatre has opened its doors to reveal a 602-seat auditorium and, vitally, more toilets for women than men.
The @sohoplace theatre was unveiled yesterday above the Elizabeth Line station on Tottenham Court Road, W1. The theatre, which is topped by office space, is run by Nimax, which has been working on the plans with Derwent London since 2010. The theatre is part of the property company’s £300m regeneration scheme in the Soho area.
“There are more women’s loos than men’s,” Nimax boss Nica Burns said. “There can never be enough though. The truth is that women simply take longer than men. Men are more nippy. Time and motion studies confirm this.”
