Autumn will see wave of administrations, says FRP

More companies are struggling as the economic outlook gets gloomier, restructuring specialist FRP Advisory has warned.

But while FRP, best known for handling the collapse of Debenhams, said it had seen an increase in enquiries for its services, the number of companies entering administration or undergoing a restructuring remained “suppressed”.

Chief executive Geoff Rowley said: “When you look at administration numbers in particular, we are still seeing a suppressed level of activity, which doesn’t entirely correlate with the challenges that we read about every day.”

He said that would continue until the autumn, but after the summer holidays business owners would have to face realities.
