Residential-led mixed-used developer Regal London has bought a vacant block next to Camden’s Roundhouse Theatre for a major redevelopment project.
The developer has bought the 20,000 sq ft 100 and 100a Chalk Farm Road, NW1 from One Housing Group. It plans to turn the commercial building, which has laid vacant for a number of years, into a major mixed-use development with an office and residential offering.
Plans will be submitted in 2023 following a comprehensive community engagement programme, which is due to begin this summer. The scheme is expected to have a gross development value of around £125m. The development will also include a Regal London real estate academy, a scheme delivered in partnership with Building Heroes, which provides construction qualifications and access to employers for military veterans and their families.
Simon De Friend, co-founder of Regal London, said the project would be its first truly mixed-use scheme in the borough.
He said: “As a locally based business, this is a real treat to be able to breathe new life into this creative corner of Camden Town.
“The acquisition of 100 Chalk Farm Road is the next step in our wider regeneration mission. It provides an opportunity to deliver a really innovative scheme that will bring our customary design flair together with our drive to bring value to our neighbours and wider stakeholders.”
The acquisition forms part of Regal’s expansion plans within the M25. The firm now has development projects across eight boroughs in the capital, including the regeneration of North Finchley town centre in Barnet and an 800-home scheme in Brent.
