Huddersfield’s Blackmoorfoot Road site on the market for resi scheme

Kirklees Council has brought more than 100 acres of land to the market on the outskirts of Huddersfield as it seeks a developer for 770 new homes.

The planning permission also includes a care facility, which will provide up to 70 flats, a doctor’s surgery and some commercial space.

The project is set to be delivered on a brownfield site, just off Blackmoorfoot Road to the south-west of Huddersfield town centre, which was formerly used as a sandstone quarry, firework factory and even as a munitions manufacturer during the Second World War.

James Mohammed, director at JLL, which was appointed to market the site, said: “The appetite for residential development land, particularly of this quantum and with planning consent in place, remains high and so we anticipate that it will generate interest from regional and national housebuilders across the country.”
