The biggest interest rate rise in 20 years is expected this week, as traders price in a hike to 1.75%.
Money markets have said there is a 71% chance that the Bank of England will increase the base rate by half a percentage point from the current 1.25%. They see a 29% chance that the bank will continue to increase rates in 25-basis-point increments.
The bank’s Monetary Policy Committee will meet on Thursday.
Interest rates have risen from a historic low of 0.1% in December to 1.25% in June after five back-to-back rate rises.
