Mortgage costs are holding back house prices, new figures from Nationwide have suggested.
The average price of a home was 11% higher last month than it was a year earlier at £271,209.
However, the monthly rise from June was only 0.1%, down from 0.2% in May and 0.9% in April. It is the smallest monthly rise in 12 months.
The figures are at odds with the sentiment from Zoopla earlier this week, which stated that higher mortgage rates were not holding back house price growth.
