UK ambition to be ‘science superpower’ is an ’empty slogan’

Britain’s hopes of becoming a science superpower by 2030 are being put at risk by a muddled and confused government strategy.

A new report by the House of Lords claims that its hopes are being further undermined by crumbling collaborations with the EU.

It added that without guidance and a clear definition, the aim to be a “science superpower” was simply an “empty slogan”.

Concerns have been raised that the shortage of lab space, especially in the OxCam Arc, is holding back UK ambitions.
