Homebuyers should be given a 50% discount on stamp duty if they agree to install heat pumps, a Conservative think-tank has suggested.
Onward said rebates would be an incentive for people to make their homes more energy efficient at a crucial “moment of change” when they move between properties.
A similar scheme in Finland has helped that country reach one of the highest rates of heat pump sales in Europe.
