Apple staff rebel over back-to-office orders

Staff at Apple have hit back over orders for them to return to the office next month.

A group called Apple Together, which represents present and former workers, has started a petition to protest against the decision, arguing that it is driven by “fear of the future of work, fear of worker autonomy, fear of losing control”.

The group has previously criticised other Apple HR policies, such as the company’s commitment to diversity and its working environment.

Tim Cook, the chief executive, has told staff that they should come into the office three days a week from 5 September.

More than 10,000 employees have joined a Slack group called “Remote Work Advocacy” supporting their right to work from home.
