Jo Cowen Architects hires strategic director

Jo Cowen Architects has appointed Laura Cassullo to the newly created role of strategic director. She was previously head of UK at Broadway Malyan for more than six years.

Cassullo (pictured) oversaw the design of several large-scale residential developments, including EcoWorld’s 910-home scheme by Brentford Community Stadium and Erith Park, a 900-home joint venture regeneration project from Orbit Group and Wates.

At JCA, Cassullo will focus on complex, residential-led urban regeneration schemes, building on the practice’s expertise in masterplanning.

JCA’s clients include major developers and investors including Berkeley Homes, TfL, Knight Dragon, Present Made, City & Docklands and Legal & General Homes.

Jo Cowen, founder of the practice, said: “As a strategic director at JCA, Laura will focus on elevating our existing masterplanning and urban regeneration expertise, while helping shape the company’s culture and direction as we look to keep growing.”

Cassullo added: “The company has a genuine commitment to diversity, which is reflected in the make-up of its senior leadership team, as well as to community engagement, as seen in its mentorship programme, which were all a key draw for me to join.

“The UK living sectors are an exciting space to be in right now and I look forward to working across a number of high-profile schemes that genuinely challenge our traditional understanding of what good urban regeneration looks like.”
